Here in Greece the temperature might not be in agreement with the month, but for us, people who long for winter and remember at 22 of October wearing heavy clothing, the time has come for winter ales. Our home does not have a fireplace so it is up to youtube to create atmosphere so we can try Viven Smoked Porter.
At the rim of the glass we have a long lasting, creamy, beige foam sitting like a crown on top of her black with red shades body. Getting the glass closer to our nose we get the light aromas of smoked wood, chocolate and notes of mocha. We take a sip and we instantly confirm the taste of chocolate and moka. In addition to those, we find flavours of caramelized malts and black raisins, while the earthly and smoked flavours can only be found on the medium lasting aftertaste. Because this is a porter we are trying, we decide to let her get a little warmer and testing the aromas again. This time we find that the smoked aromas have fallen in intensity and the beer has a sweeter odor from mocha and raisins.
In order for you to enjoy the full variety of aromas this beer has to offer we suggest you served her at 7 to 8 centigrade, ideally while being on the mountainside, and let her get warmer as time passes by. Enjoy responsibly.
